October 15th, 2016 (Millersport,
Ohio) — Shawn Szep entered the last race of the 2016 ARCA
Truck Series season as, for all intents and purposes, the
champion since his lead was so much that second place Billy
Strehle couldn’t catch him. However, there was still
unfinished business and that would be 125 more laps at the
Lake County Speedway to close out the year. Szep had already
won six of nine and nine of ten Carmen’s Vacuum Pole Awards
so to see if the Marysville, Ohio resident would “lay back”
would be interesting.....Read
We have had a lot of requests for new
racing apparel so here it is...take a look and we hope you
like the new designs.
The Angola event in June was viewed
as one of the best series events anyone had ever seen, and
this one was no different as competitors were two and three
wide almost around the entire track lap after lap. And Szep
was no different and began to slowly make his way back
through the field. Having fallen all the way to fifth and
almost a half track behind, the six time 2016 winner went
into fourth on lap 28, moved into third on lap 32 and
Gearhart, Huff and Szep diced side by side and nose to tail
until five laps to the finish. Szep tried using the low line
but Gearhart, who has probably run more circles at Angola
than anyone, used the high lane momentum to keep Huff (who
was directly behind him) and Szep (on the low side) at bay,
especially using lapped traffic which began to play a factor
and Gearhart used them as “rolling picks” with about five to
go. Szep did cross the line in front of Huff by inches for
second with two circuits left, but Huff beat him back to the
line for runner-up and the crowd about tore the grandstands
down as the #8 flashed by and into his first Lincoln Welders
Shawn Szep Closes Out The ARCA Truck
Series Run At Columbus; Wins His Fifth Out Of Six!
Obetz, Ohio (July 23rd, 2016) – Point
leader Shawn Szep has owned the 2016 ARCA Truck Series
season. There’s no two ways about it…he has been almost
perfect. He has shattered the record for best start to a
campaign in the first six races. He has won five out of six
Carmen’s Vacuum Pole Awards (taking the first three, then
the next two) but also set the record for most poles in a
row at five (two last year and three this year), and has
visited five out of six Lincoln Welders Victory Lanes
(pulling into the first two, then winning these next three)
and finished second at Angola. He has also led 440 laps
coming into Columbus and tonight tied the all-time record
for races led in a row at seven (both Chad Poorman and Jeff
Myers, Jr. held the previous mark alone until tonight.
However, both did it in one year while Szep led Lake County
last year and six races this year).
Amherst, Ohio (July 9th,
2016) – Point leader Shawn Szep of Marysville, Ohio
continues to make the ARCA Truck Series his playground, this
time taking the ARCA Truck Series return to the Lorain
County Speedway in north central Ohio! He would take the
lead for the first time on lap 31 and eventually paced the
field for a total of 41 circuits!
“Wow! Four out of five! I can’t
believe it! I’ve got so many people to thank and I don’t
even know where to start! My family is here, my fiancé Cami,
my daughter Marissa, gotta thank Craig Herron my crew
chief…he always says first we have to finish to win and we
July 2nd, 2016 (Degraff, OH) — On this our nation’s 240
birthday weekend, which is filled with, among others
things, travel, family vacations and destinations, Shawn
Szep was on a “trip” of his own as he fought off all comers
to take the Phoenix Management Group 100 at the Shady Bowl
Speedway in DeGraff, OH!
Shawn Szep continues his winning streak in qualifying at
Angola Motor Speedway with his fast time of 15.085 seconds.
It goes without saying that everything is coming up Szep
with the ARCA Truck Series and Shawn is reaping the rewards.
Painesville, Ohio (June 11th, 2016) — When it’s said a
driver “won the weekend”, it refers to a competitor whom led
practice, took the pole, then won the race. Well Shawn Szep
has been in that spotlight the last two weekends starting
with Toledo May 21st and now today at Lake County.
Toledo, OH (May 21st, 2016) — A typical racing checklist: be
fastest in first practice. Be fastest in final practice. Win
the pole…and with a new track record. Lead the most laps.
Win the race. Not many in racing can check off all those
things. However, not many are Shawn Szep of Marysville,
Ohio, who did just that in the Safety-Kleen 50 at the Toledo
Speedway to open the 2016 ARCA Truck Series season!
